Gearing up for Giving Tuesday

People are encouraged to spend money on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but on Tuesday, an organization called South Dakota Gives is asking you to direct those dollars to your favorite charity.

We'll tell you about South Dakota's first-ever state-wide giving day.

Building off of the momentum from Thanksgiving and Small Business Saturday, Giving Tuesday is celebrating generosity. On this day, non-profits around the state aim to raise awareness about their organizations and raise as much money as humanly possible.

First Peoples Fund is a Native women led organization in Rapid City dedicated to supporting Native artists.

The organization's communications manager says the money from Giving Tuesday will support a culture bearer for their 2019 fellowship program.

Cecily Engelhart, communications manager, First Peoples Fund, p0 says, "It really focuses on supporting an artist who is dedicated to preserving or passing on traditional art forms or cultural traditions or passing on ancestral knowledge to others in their communities."
