South Dakota Schedules First Annual “Day Of Giving”

South Dakota’s first-ever “Day of Giving” will be held November 27th, 2018 to raise awareness of and funds for South Dakota’s participating nonprofit organizations. According to the Rapid City Journal, this coincides with date of National Giving Day, which was originally organized in 2012.

As the day is scheduled for the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, organizers and volunteers hope to inspire a spirit of giving rather than receiving at the beginning of the holiday season. More than $300 million was raised on the national day of giving last year alone. Research has concluded that 22 percent of people who donate on a “day of giving” are new donors to their chosen non-profit organization.
