Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society

The Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society is focused on bring the Laura Ingalls Wilder legacy to life today while preserving it for the future. Wilder is a famous children’s author who wrote nine “Little House” books during the 1930-1940’s. We provide tours of two original Ingalls family homes and an original schoolhouse, as well as history of the pioneers, homesteading, De Smet, the railroad and its impact on South Dakota. Each year, over 30,000 visitors from all 50 states and over 25 countries visit the museum to learn about Laura Ingalls Wilder and her life here.
