Introducing

Mercy Housing

A national organization, Mercy Housing provides safe, affordable housing to low- and moderate-income families, seniors, and people with special needs. Recognizing that it takes more than shelter to stabilize lives, we also provide programs and services that help people achieve their goals. Two communities in South Dakota - Driftwood Estates and Northern Heights - are home to close to 300 adults and children.

Mercy Housing residents have struggled with some of life's toughest challenges that stem from poverty: lack of education, financial instability, illness, substance abuse or addiction, and chronic homelessness among them. Stable housing is often the start of a journey to an improved life for our residents.

To help individuals and families learn skills and gain perspectives that make dreams of stability and hope a reality, we offer a comprehensive array of supportive services. These services are conveniently offered at the properties and free of charge in the form of classes, one on one coaching, or referrals to partners in the community. The overall goals of the program are to help residents become financially stable, maintain stable housing, perform better in school, value their health, and actively participate in the community.

Since its founding, Mercy Housing has developed, preserved, or financed 48,000 affordable homes and operates housing in 21 states. Mercy Housing Midwest includes Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
