Introducing
Mitchell Animal Rescue
Mitchell Animal Rescue is an all volunteer foster based animal rescue group. All cats and dogs that come into the pound have three days to be claimed and two more days to be adopted by the public. At the end of the five days, they can be euthanized. One of our volunteers visits the pound daily to photograph, scan for a microchip, and compile information on each new arrival. We then post on our Facebook page and other social media sites, when and where the animal was picked up, theirs sex, approximate age, if they are spayed or neutered and their personality. We also put advertisements in the paper for three days.
We want to inform the community about where their missing pet is and to let people who would like to adopt know what is available. If they are not claimed or adopted in the five days, our group adopts them, have them virus tested, vaccinated and spayed or neutered. They are then placed into foster homes until they are adopted locally or transferred to another rescue in a city with a larger population. We also accept all trapped feral cats and place them on farms after also testing, vaccinating and spaying or neutering them. We rescue 150-200 cats and dogs a year from the pound and in the ten years we have be operating, no adoptable pet has been euthanized.
