Introducing
Postpartum Support International - South Dakota Chapter
Postpartum Support International - SD came into existence through the experience of a courageous mom who wanted to help others find their way through the darkness.
After her own experience with postpartum anxiety one South Dakota mom wanted to offer support to others. She started a group to bring moms together to support one another and share in their experiences. Another mom shared interest brought up the idea of pursuing a state chapter of Postpartum Support International.
Together they went to work, forming a team and getting PSI-SD off the ground. Because of their diligence, hard work, and passion for helping others, PSI-SD was officially launched summer 2017! We cannot thank these moms enough for putting in the hours to start PSI-SD off with a great foundation.
Our mission is to promote awareness, education, prevention, and treatment of perinatal mental health issues affecting mothers, their families, and support systems in all areas of South Dakota.
It is the vision of PSI-SD that every woman and family in South Dakota will have access to information, social support, and informed professional care to deal with mental health issues related to childbearing. PSI-SD promotes this vision through advocacy and collaboration, and by educating and training the professional community and the public.
