Introducing

Realtors for Kids, Inc.

In 2003, a group of individuals from the Northern Black Hills Association of REALTORS® got together to address a growing need in the community. As realtors, they recognized the need to build stronger communities by creating opportunities for the children. The group set out to develop a plan to raise funds and assist children with needs that otherwise were not being met, such as: a pair of soccer shoes, basic clothing needs, an insulin pump, and much more. The idea that started out as a “fill in the gaps” funding effort grew to become REALTORS® for Kids (RFK), a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Today, REALTORS® for Kids is more than just a “fill in the gaps” funding group. RFK has developed ties to other community organizations and agencies that watch over children, enabling them to reach more children in need. Since its inception in 2003, REALTORS® for Kids has donated over $930,000 to children in need throughout the Northern Black Hills. RFK works closely with other community organizations and schools in identifying those children who are in need of assistance through a referral process. Funding priorities include: children who are victims of abuse, neglect and /or abandonment; children with either a temporary or ongoing medical condition that requires money beyond what the child’s primary caregivers are able to provide; and children without the financial means to participate in school and community programs alongside their peers. REALTORS® for Kids also supports community organizations that are involved in rehabilitative programs for children with physical/mental handicaps and organizations that provide assistance to children suffering from abuse and/or neglect.
