Introducing

Royal Family KIDS Camp James River

Royal Family KIDS Camp James River is a free one-week resident summer camp for foster children ages 6-11 in central and northeast South Dakota serving the regions of Huron, Brookings, Aberdeen, and Watertown Department of Social Services. Our camp is part of a growing network of camps nationwide. The mission of camp is to create life-changing moments for children of abuse so they can once again dream, believe and find new hope for their future. RFKC extends love and care from adults modeling a non-violent, positive way of life as an alternative to many of the negative, abusive situations which children of abuse and neglect have faced. For one week, instead of operating in survival mode, these kids can just be kids. There is no cost to the child, the foster care family or the State of South Dakota. The camping experience is geared for success, recognizing the needs of foster children. Each child is paired with an adult counselor, and there is a strict ratio of one adult counselor to every two campers. RFKC James River is preparing for its fourth year of camp in 2019 and hopes to serve 50 children.
