Introducing
South Dakota Bar Foundation
The South Dakota Bar Foundation focuses its activities on the people of South Dakota, especially children and those most in need. Since 1984, the South Dakota Bar Foundation has contributed over $2,500,000 to nonprofit organizations committed to the fight for access to justice and in furtherance of law-related education.
Foundation funds go to very important projects, including: Legal Services Programs in SD, Rural Lawyer Recruitment, SD Public Broadcasting of Legislative Sessions, SD
Guardianship Program, Teen Court, Ask-A-Lawyer and Educational videos on ageing, substance abuse and mental health issues.
As a result of our access to justice grants, victims of spousal abuse have been protected, single mothers have secured child support and tenants facing eviction have learned their legal rights. At its most basic level, South Dakota Bar Foundation grants have ensured lawyers have been there to aid ordinary South Dakotans.
As a result of our law-related education grants, South Dakotans understand the intricacies of the legal system, children learn to appreciate the U.S. and South Dakota Constitutions and viewers of South Dakota public broadcasting learn about legislative issues affecting them.
