Spearfish Foundation for Public Education

The Spearfish Foundation for Public Education (SFPE) was charted in 2001 due to budget cuts in the school district. The Foundation is a separate legal entity from the Spearfish School District, but works closely with the district by providing needed funding for educational enrichment programs for all students. The purpose of the SFPE is to generate funds sufficient to support academic activities and programs, to enhance eh academic opportunities for students of the district an to allocate the Foundation's resources to fund educational areas of greatest need. The SFPE promotes and celebrates excellence in education, provides educators funds for creative innovative teaching, establishes an endowment to ensure future quality public education, increases the visibility and value of public education and builds community awareness of the SFPE. The SFPE raises fund in the community to used as grants to teachers who apply for funding for an innovative or much needed program that the school district cannot fund. Over the past years, the SFPE has invested over $500,000 into educational programing in the Spearfish School District.
