Capital Area Counseling Coordinates Imagination Library in Hughes and Stanley Counties

The Capital Area Untied Way is one of around 400 non-profit organizations participating in the first ever South Dakota Day of Giving tomorrow (Nov. 27).

The Imagination Library for Hughes and Stanley county preschoolers is one of the programs coordinated by the agency.

Dolly Parton, who launched the program in 1995, wanted to instill the love of reading among preschool children regardless of the family income in the Tennessee area where she grew up.

Imagination Library mails over 80-million books each year in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. The books are selected by a committee made up of experts in education and writing and are a mixture of classics and contemporary fiction and non-fiction.
