Five ways to give in the Pierre area on Giving Tuesday

For the first time, Giving South Dakota is holding a Day of Giving throughout the state today, Tuesday, Nov. 27. The goal of the day is for non-profits raise as much money and awareness as possible. More than 400 organizations are participating in the event, according to Giving South Dakota’s website.

Here are some local organizations that will be raising money until 11:59 p.m. tonight.

Pierre Area Referral Service

The Pierre Area Referral Service (PARS) is participating in the first Day of Giving. PARS, which manages the Pierre and Fort Pierre Food Pantry, Holiday Food Program, Emergency Assistance Program, BackPack Food Program and Information and Referral Services, can accept donations online at pierreareareferral.org.

Feeding South Dakota

Feeding South Dakota, which has commodity supplemental food programs (CSFP) at the Pierre Senior Center, PARS and a dropoff box for nutritional meals for the elderly in Fort Pierre (P.O. Box 215) will be taking donations as well. Feeding South Dakota will match donations dollar to dollar up to $20,000. Donations can be made at feedingsouthdakota.org/how-to-help/donate-funds.
